Fake News and Trust in the Media

  • Date and time: Wednesday, 21 February 16:30 – 18:00
  • Location: Pleinlaan 5, 1050 Brussels

During this mini-Open Day, all majors will be represented, and we will host an interactive lecture on Fake News and Trust in the Media. Participants can also learn more about: admissions, scholarships, internships, career paths, and graduate school opportunities.

‘Fake news’ has been a hotly debated topic following the 2016 US Presidential Elections. This lecture provides a brief introduction to the issue of fake news, and addresses several key questions: what is fake news, and how do we recognize questionable news sources? What are some of the key consequences of fake news? And what can social media platforms do to limit the impact of fake news?
