VeCo Honours Class: “Global Problem Solving and Intergenerational Dialogue”

Honours Class classroomThis year’s VeCo Honours Class is organised in cooperation with the ZBW – Leibniz-Information Centre for Economics and the Global Economic Symposium (GES) – a premiere annual gathering of high-level policy-makers, business leaders and academics. The aim of the class is to prepare a policy-oriented proposal on how to solve core global challenges.

Back in March, 11 VeCo students were selected, and they have been following an in-depth, interactive and highly challenging class with Dr. Willi Scholz, Science Policy Consultant and Head of YES! – Young Economic Summit at the ZBW and Head of the GES Centre at the Kiel Institute until December 2014.

The class was separated into 2 groups and each group has to prepare a paper and a short video with focus on the practical implementation of the solution proposal they have. In addition, they will have to identify the relevant stakeholders that can implement the solution proposal (politicians, business leaders etc.).

The group with the best proposal will be given a chance to travel to the next Global Economic Symposium in Kiel, Germany in October and present their ideas in front of leading policy-makers and business leaders.
