Vesalius College is proud to welcome Dr. John Heieck and Sheila Wilkinson to the Department of International & European Law.
Dr. John Heieck joins us from the University of Kent, Brussels School of International Studies, where he also serves as the Lecturer of Public International Law, International Diplomatic Law, and Fundamentals of Dissertation Research. John holds a PhD in International Law from the University of Kent, Brussels School of International Studies, an LLM in Public International Law from the Leiden University School of Law, a Juris Doctor in trial and appellate advocacy from the Creighton University School of Law, and a BA in English Literature from the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Heieck is a licensed attorney in the state of Nebraska (US) and an active researcher in the area of genocide prevention. He will contribute to the law department by teaching ‘Introduction to Legal Principles and Theories’ and ‘Methods: Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing’ in Fall 2016.
Sheila M. Wilkinson joins us as the Advanced Business Law Adjunct Instructor, having served on the NVAO MAC Committee for the Law Bachelor accreditation in 2014. Professor Wilkinson is an educator, social worker and attorney, and her focus is on comparative EU/US law and business law and development. She completed her LLM in International and European Law with the Institute for European Studies, in 2014. Professor Wilkinson earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans and her Master’s of Social Work from Tulane University. She managed a partnership of law firms for 10 years, focusing on class actions and multi-district litigation prior to opening her own consulting firm in 2010. Since then, Professor Wilkinson divides her time between New Orleans and Brussels; she has clients here and in Louisiana, and she also teaches at the University of Phoenix in New Orleans and will start teaching at Herzing University, New Orleans Campus, in January 2017.
