Amanda Turbett, Study Abroad student from BCA Studies Abroad/Cedarville University

Making the decision to study abroad was one that I will never regret.  Having the opportunity to study in a smaller, but diverse academic environment has broadened my perspectives about the world and the people living in it.  As an international business major, studying and working in the capital of Europe seemed too good to be true, but after being here for two months, I hardly remember how the time has passed so quickly!

The classes that I am taking at Vesalius College have been nothing but positive experiences for me.  From fine-tuning my humble French to comparing European economic systems to learning the history of modern Europe, VeCo classes have both tested and enriched my learning experience.  In addition to learning in the classroom, I have also had the opportunity to work for a Belgian company through the college’s internship programme.  I have gained invaluable international working experience, as I have had the opportunity to communicate with working professionals from all over the world.

Perhaps the most rewarding experience for me has been the friend I have made and the people I have met during my stay in Belgium.  The host family I am living with are wonderful in every way: they have taken my in as their own and been extremely patient, even on my bad days.  The friends I’ve made at VeCo have made my time here all the more worthwhile, from “frites Fridays” to weekend trips to discover Europe, it is hard for me to think that in a few short months I will say goodbye to Europe, but I know I will never forget my time in Belgium.  There’s much, much more to discover in Europe than my short time will allow, so I know I’ll be back…someday!
