My experience in Belgium has been random, so random that I will word this experience report to be just as unpredictable. I first got here and was shocked by the atmosphere and the people.  I expected to be surrounded by anti-American Europeans, but I was wrong.

Since I’ve been in Belgium I have enjoyed the lifestyle of some kind of first-class citizen: eating the world’s best fries, drinking the world’s best beer, and enjoying one of the best cultures in the world.

Belgium is a constant surprise to me – especially the weather.  One week it’s 18 and the next week it’s -4, Insanity.  The only way to get past it is with my motto:  Today is fine, Tomorrow will be weather…but rain or shine I still know it will be better.  As corny as it sounds, it helps.

On a completely different note: Belgium’s location is extremely conducive to my travels.  I have only lived here for 3 months but have already traveled to Switzerland, Amsterdam, and Germany for a fairly cheap rate.

And aside from all that, VeCo has been great. The classes are appropriately difficult and the Student Government makes great party plans to make up for the study stress.  This experience has been a dream.
