Spring Guest Lecture: “Protocol and Etiquette in a Multinational Context”

On the 28th of April, Vesalius College had the pleasure of hosting the lecture on “Diplomatic Protocol in a Multinational Context” with guest speaker Mr. Günter Frommelt, Deputy Chief of Protocol for the Principality of Liechtenstein. In his lecture, Mr. Frommelt outlined the historical evolution of diplomatic protocol towards the familiar standardised practices in effect today, stressing the importance of attention to detail and adhering to specific principles of protocol. His lecture also touched upon the importance of cultural intelligence and sensitivity, organisational and logistical requirements, as well as general customs and etiquette that are expected in formal and informal interaction at high-level events, ranging from State dinners to meetings. The lecture was followed by a Q&A session where a variety of interesting questions were posed.
