Prof. Dr. Koops invited to speak at three Peacekeeping Expert Workshops

On 7th July, Prof. Dr. Koops spoke on ‘New Horizons, Persisting Peacekeeping Problems: Lessons Learned from the UN Standby Arrangement System and the Standby High Readiness Brigade for UN Operations (SHIRBRIG)’, at the Expert Workshop, ‘New Horizons and Old Problems for UN Peacekeeping’, organized for Members of the German Parliament and policy experts by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in Berlin.

In the afternoon of the same day, he also presented the preliminary results of his study (carried out in cooperation with the Global Governance Institute) on ‘The United Nations Peacebuilding Commission: Lessons Learned and future prospects for EU-UN ‘Effective Multilateralism’, at the Expert Workshop ‘Making Multilateralism Effective: The Role of the European Union’.

Finally, on 11th July, he gave the keynote lecture at the ‘The European Union in the World: Towards Global Partnerships in Peace Operations’ workshop at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) in Switzerland. His opening lecture focussed on ‘Inter-organizational Cooperation in Peace and Security: Theoretical Rationale and Policy Implications’.
