The Institute for Peace in Partnership, formed by the International Affairs students at Vesalius College, is pleased to invite you to their Capstone Conference ‘Moving towards EU-UN-AU trilateral cooperation in peacekeeping.’
The event will be a public conference on ‘Trilateral (EU-UN-AU) cooperation in Peacekeeping.’ It is intended to offer an opportunity for experts, scholars, and students to engage in a dialogue on how best to strengthen partnership between these three organizations, in the field of peacekeeping. The conference will focus on short-term priorities and lessons learned from bilateral relations (EU-UN) (EU-AU) and (UN-AU) in peacekeeping operations. Drawing on the High-Level Panel on Peace Operations’ call for stronger global-regional partnerships, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon’s demanded to build on past experiences to establish a stronger partnership between the UN, the EU and the AU. These institutions must produce a clear and solid framework for cooperation to boost collective ability to manage, plan, and execute peace operations. Knowing that the first signs of the trilateral cooperation mostly took place on the African continent, (e.g. Somalia, Central African Republic, Mali), What are the lessons learned from collaboration, and which are the priorities to achieve strong trilateral cooperation?
When: April 20, 2016 (Wed), 18:00-20:00.
Where: Vesalius College (Pleinlaan 5, 1050 Brussels)

<Capstone group info – Who is the Institute for Peace in Partnership>
The Institute for Peace in Partnership was created by eight students from Vesalius College (VUB) as part of their Capstone course supervised by Dr. Joachim A. Koops. Our group was tasked to provide policy advice to the United Nations Liaison Office for Peace and Security (UNLOPS) on UN-EU cooperation in Peacekeeping. Our think tank is conducting research on this topic and has the aim of promoting EU-UN-AU trilateral cooperation on peace and security issues. As we are deeply concerned with the current challenges affecting international peace and security, we are determined to advance global-regional partnerships in this field in order to consolidate common understandings and foster closer collaboration for peace.
