On September 29th, Hans Craen visited Vesalius College to give a guest lecture to Dr. Barlow’s EU Lobbying course. Mr. Craen is Vice President at Kellen, and lobbies for industry associations. He has built extensive expertise in assisting industry associations in the fields of environmental protection and waste management.
Mr. Craen’s lecture centered around an overview of a case study: the lobbying efforts of the EPBA (European Portable Battery Association) on the EU directive concerning consumer batteries. The study demonstrated the incentives of industry associations to engage in lobbying efforts and provided students an insight into the complex institutional framework within which EU lobbying takes place.
