Logging on to Computers at Vesalius College

To log on to the fixed computers at Vesalius College, please enter the following information:

  • Windows PC: username and pincode
  • Apple: username and password indicated on the label of each machine

VUB Computer Account

Each Vesalius College student receives a Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) computer account with username and password during orientation. This account is essential to use the VUB wireless computer network, online learning platform, email and library resources.
Activation is accomplished via this webpage.

The username typically consists of a lower case ‘v’ followed by the student ID-number. The password has a set of very specific requirements:

  • 7–8 characters
  • At least one uppercase letter
  • At least one lowercase letter
  • At least one digit
  • At least one symbol from this set: `!$%^&*()_+-=;,./<>?

Wireless Access

Students have access to ‘VUBnext’. Authentication on this network is accomplished through the main VUB computer account, so you have to activate this first following the instructions above.

You can find instructions on how to connect to VUBnext here.
Add “VUBnext” to the list of wireless networks with the following configuration:

  • Network Authentication: WPA2
  • Data Encryption: AES
  • EAP type: Protected EAP (PEAP)
  • Authentication Method: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)

Canvas, the online learning platform

Canvas is the online learning platform used by Vesalius College. This is where professors post extra readings, Powerpoint presentations, announcements and other relevant information about courses.

To log on to Canvas, simply use your VUB computer account username follwoed by (so for instance and Vc followed by your pincode (eg Vc2011245). You can change your password to something more convenient after logging in.

After logging in, students will see the list of courses they are registered for. Please be aware there may be a delay in updating the list of courses during the drop and add period.


Print costs €0.04 per page. Each time you print, you receive an email in your VUB email account informing you how much print credit you have left. If your print credit is running low, please see Mr Chris Janssens, office PL5.-1.03, to acquire more. It is not allowed to pay with coins smaller than €0.10.

You can print most major file types (doc, docx, pdf, xls, odt) from your laptop via this website: (only accessible when connected to VUBnext). Login to the wireless printing website is done with your username and pincode.

The latest versions of MS Office and computers running Mac OS can convert any document to PDF. If your computer cannot convert documents, please download and install a PDF converter, for instance PDF Creator.

Checking VUB Email

You can check your VUB email account via this page:
Username: v+your student (e.g.,
Password: The password you chose when you activated your VUB computer account

You also have the option of forwarding all emails sent to this account to your regular email address.

  • Log in to your VUB email
  • Click on ‘Tools’
  • Select ‘Forward/Vacation’
  • Select ‘Forward emails to another address’
  • Enter your preferred email address

Office 365

Each student has access to Office 365 for free on their personal computer with their VUB account. Simply register with your VUB email address and follow the instructions you receive via that email.
