Daniella Lopez, US Study Abroad Student at Vesalius College
I chose to attend VeCo because it’s right in the heart of an amazing city with plenty of things to do! Brussels is known as the capital of Europe and it lives up to it; markets are easily accessible, cultural events happen frequently and the cuisine is diverse enough to fit every craving. My favorite event thus far was Nuit Blanche, a fantastic cultural event that lasted all night long with open-late museums, various concerts, and random art installations, to name a few things. My favorite structure in Brussels is the Atomium because of its strange structure and the fact that there are always events at the structure, including a zip-lining coming down from it!
In addition to all the city has to offer, VeCo has provided me with an incredible internship that gives me access to the European Union institutions and presents me with real-life learning opportunities and experience. I’ve had more hands-on opportunities through this internship than in most of my other internships and Vesalius did all the work finding it for me. I’ve had the chance to be present during an interview of the Chinese Ambassador and in a month I moved on to conduct my own interviews with significant people in the fields I’m interested in.
Veco is a really special place because of the people. The students are from various parts of the world and, therefore, there are plenty of chances to network. Additionally, the student government makes a real dedicated effort to make sure that students are enjoying their time inside and outside of school. Last, but not least, the professors are very helpful and work diligently to make sure everyone is given the best opportunity to learn and thrive. Vesalius is a great school with an ever-evolving atmosphere.
