A Message from the Dean

Thank you for your interest in Vesalius College and welcome. We take great pride in Vesalius College and the rich educational experience it offers students and hope you enjoy learning more about it.

Vesalius College was founded in 1987 as an undergraduate English language college in association with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Boston University. We are very fortunate to have them both as our co-founders. Thanks to their influence, Vesalius College combines the strengths of two successful academic models. We offer students an American-style liberal arts curriculum and teaching methods supported by the resources of two major European universities, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

This academic excellence has attracted a quality and diverse student body from all over the globe—more than 70 different nationalities. Beyond the academics, students have the opportunity to learn from the city itself. Brussels, “The Capital of Europe,” is host to the European Union, NATO, and hundreds of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and international businesses. With this proximity, students can witness first hand important world events, meet diplomats and business figures, and do internships to help gain valuable work experience.

The quality and benefits of the “Vesalius experience” is underscored by the success of our alumni including admission to top graduate schools in North America and Europe and employment at prestigious companies and organizations the world over. Several of our students have also started successful businesses in a wide variety of industries.

Whether you intend to earn a degree at Vesalius or participate in our study-abroad program or enroll in a short summer session, at Vesalius College you will find a rewarding opportunity to develop your intellect, intercultural and leadership skills, and be ready for the numerous professional and personal opportunities that await you.

Best regards,

Jean-Louis Luyckx
Dean of Vesalius College
