Memorable Graduation for Class of 2010
On 29 May 2010, Vesalius College hosted the Twentieth Annual Graduation Ceremony in honour of the Class of 2010.This class, 60 strong and representing 24 nationalities specialising in the fields of Business, Communications and International Affairs, demonstrates the diversity of Vesalius College. Many of these graduates will continue studying at prestigious Masters Programmes such as Cass in London, the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna and Esada Law & Business School in Barcelona, while others will embark directly on their chosen career paths. Elitsa Katsarska, for instance, found employment with her sponsor from the Vesalius Internship Programme, UTC Fire & Security, illustrating how this programme can benefit students directly.
As Valedictorian, the student with the highest grade point average, Lisa Reichmann from Germany gave an inspiring speech on behalf of the graduating class.
The commencement speaker at this year's ceremony was Dr. Jamie Shea, Director of Policy Planning, Private Office of the Secretary-General at NATO in Brussels. His speech was entitled , “What I have learned about the art of diplomacy and what you should know too”. Dr. Shea is also closely involved with the new European Peace and Security Studies, which starts this fall semester. Vesalius College is also pleased to welcome him among the faculty in Spring 2011.
One of Vesalius' distinguished partner institutions, the Royal Conservatory, provided the musical interludes, but this year, the graduating students also enjoyed a Chinese farewell song by fellow student Chi Zhang as part of the Zheng and Pipa Duo.
The new Vesalius promotional video also premiered at the graduation ceremony and was warmly receive. This video will soon be available on this website.
