About us
Vesalius College is one of the few higher education institutions in Brussels that offers European-focused Bachelor’s and Master degrees solely taught in the English language. Founded in 1987 by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Boston University, Vesalius College offers American-style education that includes small classes, high teacher/student ratios and participatory classroom experiences. Vesalius College takes full advantage of its location in the Capital of Europe. With a diverse student body drawn from all corners of the globe, Vesalius College provides an enriching academic and cultural experience. Vesalius College is registered with the Ministry of Education of the Flemish Community (Belgium) as an Institute of Higher Education and the three BA programmes are accredited by the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO).
The Institute for European Studies (IES) is a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). It offers advanced Master programmes in International and European Law as well as in European Integration and Development. With over 40 experts, IES focuses on interdisciplinary research in European Studies, more specifically on the role of the EU as an international actor. Within this scope, it provides academic services to scholars, policy makers and the general public.
