Available Services at the Vesalius Study Centre
The principal service that the Study Centre offers is peer tutoring. Vesalius students are offered an attentive ear and a helping hand in their writing by accomplished Vesalius students. This service is provided by appointment and on a walk-in basis.
Writing Assistance
The members of the Vesalius Study Centre offer students individual help on elements of writing skills such as text structure, style, clarity and grammar in a relaxed and friendly environment. Assistance in other academic fields may be given, such as in statistics or French. Please inquire to see how the Study Centre is currently able to meet your tutoring needs.
Online Resources
In addition to having an office where students can come in to get support for their writing projects and papers, the Study Centre offers online resources so students can get grammar, style and other writing support anytime from anywhere.
Study Resources and Workshops
The Study Centre offers a peaceful environment in which to study. The VWC houses many books and reference materials and Vesalius professors often supply the Study Centre with copies of their assignments. Vesalius students may consult or borrow textbooks or novels and grammar exercises and writing style instructions are available, as are dictionaries and a thesaurus. There is also plenty of quiet space with tables for up to eight students to read or review lecture notes.
The Study Centre also occasionally organises workshops and events in support of writing skills such as the Literary Evening in January where two published authors read from their work and aspiring authors participated in the Open Mic event.
Learn to Tutor
Another offering at the Study Centre is the opportunity to tutor. Vesalius students and members of the community can gain valuable experience in editing and teaching by volunteering to work in our centre.
