About Vesalius College

A Brief History

Vesalius College was founded in 1987 to provide students with a quality and internationally-focused liberal arts education to prepare them for graduate school or to begin a successful career. The college was founded in association with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Boston University and maintains a strong relationship with the Université Libre de Bruxelles, enabling it to provide students with the best of both worlds: a tight academic community backed by the extensive academic resources of two major research universities.

Accreditation

Vesalius College is registered with the Ministry of Education of the Flemish Community (Belgium) as an Institute of Higher Education.

The three majors offered at Vesalius College are accredited by the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organization (NVAO). This means that the Bachelor degrees obtained at Vesalius College are equivalent to those from other Belgian and Dutch universities and are recognized throughout the world.

Academics and the Vesalius Community

The faculty at Vesalius College mirrors the student body in diversity, motivation and quality. This includes visiting professors teaching summer courses bringing a variety of perspectives and experiences to the instruction.

The quality of the instructors compliments the College’s teaching philosophy. Based on American-style teaching methods, classes are interactive, provide continual feedback and professors are very accessible, giving students a challenging academic experience as well as the support to succeed.
