This proximity exposes Vesalius College students to a wide range of experienced professionals, media organisations, political figures and corporations and they are able to witness major political events first hand.
In addition, crucially, students can develop contacts and a professional network that will be invaluable as they advance in a career.
With four areas of communications-related study (Concentrations), students can tailor their course work to meet their personal interests and career ambitions. The four available concentrations are:
- Business Communication
- European Communication Studies
- Journalism and Scriptwriting
- Political Communication
Preparing for a Career or Graduate School
Throughout the programme, students develop a conceptual understanding of communication and its social, economic and political dimensions. They learn the function and organisation of political institutions and business industries and the social responsibilities of professional communicators. In addition to a conceptual approach, students are trained in essential practical skills including researching, evaluating, organising, writing, editing and presenting information across a variety of audiences.
At the end of the programme, graduates of Vesalius College's Communications major are well prepared for graduate study or successful careers in journalism, the film industry, public relations, lobbying, media management, advertising or in the communications departments of political institutions or corporations.
Internships
With Brussels being home to the European Union, NATO, lobbying firms and hundreds of political organisations and international businesses, Communications students at Vesalius College have many excellent opportunities to take an internship to gain valuable work experience to support their specific career ambitions and give a head start to their career.
